4th egg

Good Monday afternoon everyone.
Last Thursday (April 2nd), I received a report that a 4th egg had been laid.  The next step is to estimate when incubation began.
Peregrines typically start incubation when the next to last egg is laid (the penultimate egg). We're guessing that the third egg was laid on March 31st or really early on April 1st. Since incubation lasts about 33 days, we can expect the first egg to hatch about May 3rd.
That being said, the great thing about keeping up and continuing this blog is the historical reference points.
(Thank You Donna Schwab!!!!)
The last year that we were able to track this pair during nesting season was 2017. As I looked back over the historical posts, I learned that Durand laid her third egg on March 29th, resulting in the first hatch of that season occurring on May 1st. She is pretty much on that same path for this nesting season.
